Return & Refund Policy

At Meow Green, we want you and your cat to be completely happy with your purchase. This policy sets out your rights and our obligations when it comes to returns and refunds on our cat litter and litter box products. It has been prepared to comply with consumer protection laws in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and the United States.
1. Standard Return Period — 30 Days
We offer a 30-day return policy from the date you receive your order. This exceeds the minimum statutory requirements in all jurisdictions in which we operate.
To be eligible for a return, your item must meet all of the following conditions:
- It is in the same condition in which you received it — unused and undamaged
- Michu XXL Container Cat Litter Box with Scoop: the product must be fully assembled in its original configuration, with the scoop included, and returned in its original packaging
- Cat litter products: the packaging must be completely sealed and unopened. We are unable to accept returns of cat litter that has been opened due to the hygiene-sensitive nature of the product
- All original tags, stickers, and inserts are present
- You have a receipt or valid proof of purchase

Please include your order number, the product(s) you wish to return, and the reason for return.
Items sent back without prior authorisation will not be accepted and may be returned to you at your cost.
2. European Union & UK — Statutory 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
If you are a consumer located in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, or any other EU member state, you have the right under applicable law to cancel your order within 14 calendar days of receiving your goods, without giving any reason. This right arises under:
- The UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013
- EU Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights (as implemented in each EU member state)
To exercise your right of cancellation, you must notify us within 14 days of receiving your order. Once notified, you have a further 14 days to return the goods to us.
Please note: the statutory cooling-off right does not apply to cat litter products that have been unsealed, as these fall within the category of goods sealed for hygiene protection and cannot be returned once unsealed (pursuant to Article 16(e) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU and Regulation 28(3) of the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If your cat litter packaging remains fully sealed, your cooling-off right is fully preserved.
Upon valid cancellation, we will refund the full price of the goods and the standard outbound delivery cost. We will not refund any premium delivery charges if you selected a faster delivery option than our standard service.
German consumers (Verbraucherschutzrecht): Your statutory cancellation right (Widerrufsrecht) is protected under §§ 312g, 355 BGB. The hygiene exception under § 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 3 BGB applies to opened cat litter packaging. A model cancellation form (Muster-Widerrufsformular) is available on request at hello@meowgreen.co.uk.
French consumers (Code de la Consommation): Your right of withdrawal (droit de rétractation) is protected under Articles L221-18 to L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. The hygiene exception under Article L221-28 (5) applies to opened cat litter. A standard withdrawal form is available on request.
Netherlands consumers (Burgerlijk Wetboek): Your right of withdrawal is protected under Article 6:230o of the Dutch Civil Code. The hygiene exception for sealed goods applies to opened cat litter products.
3. Damages, Defects & Incorrect Items
Please inspect your order as soon as it is received. Given the size and weight of the Michu XXL Litter Box, please check the outer packaging for any signs of transit damage before signing for delivery where possible.
If your item is defective, damaged in transit, or if you have received an incorrect item, contact us immediately at hello@meowgreen.co.uk with:
- Your order number
- A clear description of the issue — for example, a cracked litter box housing, a missing or broken scoop, or damaged litter packaging
- Photographs of the item and its packaging
We will assess the issue and, where applicable, offer a free replacement part (such as a replacement scoop), a full replacement unit, or a full refund — at no cost to you. UK consumers retain rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for up to 6 years from delivery. EU consumers retain rights under EU Sale of Goods Directive 2019/771 for a minimum of 2 years from delivery.
4. Non-Returnable Items
The following cannot be returned or refunded, unless they are faulty or not as described:
- Cat litter of any variety where the packaging has been opened or the seal broken — this applies for hygiene reasons under UK and EU law
- The Michu XXL Container Cat Litter Box with Scoop if it has been used (i.e., if cat litter has been placed inside it)
- Any custom or personalised orders
- Items purchased as part of a final sale or otherwise marked non-returnable at the time of purchase
- Gift cards
Your statutory rights in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods are not affected by the above and apply to all product categories.
5. Exchanges
We do not offer direct product exchanges. If you would like a different variant — for example, a different cat litter formula or size — please return your original, eligible purchase and place a new order once your return has been accepted. This ensures the fastest possible turnaround.
If you have received a damaged or incorrect item, we will arrange a direct replacement where stock allows.
6. Return Shipping Costs
Please note that the Michu XXL Container Cat Litter Box is a large, heavy item. We strongly recommend retaining the original packaging in case a return is needed.
United Kingdom
- Standard return (3–5 business days): £4.99
- Express return (1–2 business days): £6.99
- Free returns on orders of £50.00 or over (standard service)
European Union (27 countries)
- Standard international return (3–5 business days): £14.99
International (UAE, Australia, Canada and 10 other countries)
- Standard international return (3–5 business days): £23.99
Return shipping labels for faulty, damaged, or incorrectly sent items will be provided by us free of charge. For all other returns, return postage is your responsibility unless you are exercising a statutory cooling-off right and applicable law requires us to bear that cost.
We strongly recommend using a tracked postal service for all returns. We cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in transit back to us.
7. Refunds
Once we have received and inspected your return, we will notify you by email. If your return is approved:
- Your refund will be issued to your original payment method
- UK and EU consumers: refunds will be processed within 14 calendar days of us receiving the returned goods, or within 14 days of you providing proof of return — whichever is earlier. This complies with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (UK) and EU Directive 2011/83/EU
- US consumers: refunds will typically be processed within 10 business days
- Please allow additional time for your bank or card provider to post the refund to your account
If more than 15 business days have passed since we confirmed your refund and you have not received it, please contact us at hello@meowgreen.co.uk.
8. US Consumers — State-Specific Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable US state consumer protection laws, including the California Consumer Protection Act. Where mandatory state law requires us to offer a return or refund beyond the terms above, we will comply.
